Howard Wandrei wrote under many pseudonyms, which presented one of many challenges Dwayne Olson has had to deal with in putting these collections together. He wrote at a furious pace, in many genres, for the pulps-- we haven't even tried, for example, to put together a volume of all of his boxing stories!
But his Fantasy fiction ranks with the best, and we've been delighted to be able to locate enough of his artwork to present Howard Wandrei, illustrated by Howard Wandrei. Any weird fiction fan should treasure THE EERIE MR. MURPHY, and we hope to get TIME BURIAL into reprint sometime soon.
Both his risk-addicted youth and his time in prison clearly add a gritty realism to the stories in THE LAST PIN. These aren't conventional "mystery" stories, even though the "mystery" pulps were their home when first published. Enjoy comparing the original version of the story, available only in SAITH THE LORD.
Since his brother Don was his literary heir at Howard's untimely death, these stories languished for decades. Fedogan and Bremer is proud to have brought them back to the public attention they deserve.
